NATIVE PLANTS
A native plant is one that occurs in a specific environment and has been part of the environment over geologic time, especially prior to European colonization.
They have adapted to the local climate and soil conditions where they naturally occur. They are not fussy. They require less water, fertilizer, little to no pesticides, less time in maintenance.
Native plants attract a variety of birds, butterflies and other wildlife. They provide food, nectar, seeds and shelter for wildlife and support pollinators. Many native plants are crucial (and sometimes exclusive) food sources for native wildlife.
